Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Health & Fitness Data: Step count and physical activity data accessed via Android Health Connect, solely to provide walking tracking features.
- Usage Data: We use the Accessibility Service to detect when you are viewing specific apps (e.g., scrolling apps). No content from those apps is read or stored.
- Account Information: If you sign in via Google or anonymously through Firebase Authentication, we collect your Google account display name and email to manage your account.
- App Usage Statistics: Aggregated, anonymized statistics to improve app performance, collected via Firebase Analytics.
- Advertising Data: Google AdMob may collect device information and advertising identifiers to serve relevant ads to free-tier users.
Health Connect Data Usage
WalkScroll integrates with Android Health Connect to read your daily step count.
This data is used exclusively to display your progress and set walking goals within the app.
- Health data is never uploaded to our servers.
- Health data is never shared with third parties.
- Health data is processed locally on your device only.
- You can revoke Health Connect permissions at any time from the Health Connect app.
WalkScroll only accesses data it needs and for no other purpose than improving your walking habits.
Accessibility Service
WalkScroll uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect when you open specific apps
that you have selected. This allows the app to overlay a walking reminder when you start scrolling.
- We do not read any content from the apps you use.
- We do not record keystrokes, passwords, or any personal input.
- Accessibility data is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the walking tracking features of the app.
- To personalize your experience and track your daily and weekly goals.
- To display relevant advertisements to free-tier users via Google AdMob.
- To authenticate your account securely via Firebase Authentication.
- To improve app features and fix bugs using aggregated analytics.

Data Retention
Progress data (steps, streaks, challenges) is stored locally on your device using SharedPreferences.
If you uninstall the application, all locally stored data is deleted automatically.
If you use Google Sign-In, your authentication token is managed by Firebase. You can delete your account
at any time by contacting us.
Children's Privacy
WalkScroll is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect
personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has
provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
Your Rights
- You can revoke Health Connect access at any time via Android Settings.
- You can disable the Accessibility Service at any time via Android Accessibility Settings.
- You can opt out of personalized ads via your Android device settings.
- Data Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly within the app via Settings > Data & Privacy > Delete Account & Data.
