TL;DR: WalkScroll does not collect, store, or share any personal data with third parties. All your data stays on your device.

1. Data We Collect

WalkScroll does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers. All data — including your step count, selected apps, usage time, and preferences — is stored locally on your device only.

2. Health & Motion Data

WalkScroll reads your step count data through:

Motion & Fitness (iOS) — via device motion sensors
Health Connect (Android) — via the Health Connect API

This data is used solely to calculate your walking progress and earned screen time. Step data is never uploaded, shared, or sent to any server.

3. Screen Time & App Blocking

On iOS, WalkScroll uses Apple's Screen Time API (FamilyControls) to manage app restrictions. App selection tokens are processed entirely on-device by iOS and are opaque — WalkScroll cannot see which specific apps you select.

On Android, WalkScroll uses Usage Access and Overlay permissions to display reminders when distracting apps are opened.

4. Permissions Used

iOS:

Motion & Fitness — To count your steps in real-time using device sensors.
Family Controls — To manage app restrictions via Screen Time API.

Android:

Usage Access — To detect when a selected app is opened.
Display Over Other Apps — To show the WalkScroll reminder overlay.
Health Connect — To read your step count data.

5. Third-Party Services

WalkScroll uses the following third-party services:

Google AdMob (free users only) — May collect anonymized usage data per Google's privacy policy.
Firebase Authentication — For account management. No health or step data is shared with Firebase.
In-App Purchases — Processed securely by Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play). WalkScroll does not handle payment information directly.

No personally identifiable step, health, or usage data is shared with any third-party service.

6. Data Storage

All app data is stored locally on your device using secure on-device storage. If you delete the app, all data is permanently removed.

7. Children's Privacy

WalkScroll is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
